This is a web page dedicated to our first child. Mia Gabriella Paulus was born on Monday, March 21 at 6:59 am. to Sythera & JP Paulus. Mia was the nickname of JP's mother, and means, "mine" or "my", but can also mean "who is like the Lord?". Gabriella means "God is our Strength".

She was born weighing 15 1/2 oz. (not even a pound!) and was 10 1/2 inches long. (She was 3 months premature!). Going in, she was doing well, developing at a downtown Chicago hospital.

Mia came home on July 7!

As of 22 december 2005, She is 25 inches long, and weighing 12 pounds, 2.5 ounces!

As of 1 March 2006, Mia is 26 1/2 inches long weighing 13 pounds, 14 ounces!

We plan on doing that about once a week, unless we get a call from the doctors at the Hospital. (Warning: you may get a false alarm or two, where they call us at the first sign of an emergency). Prayer points

Pray for Mia's eyes & lungs to be completely developed. Also pray for her vocal cords...we have only heard peeps from her, and no loud crying (which, for us, is a concern)
Pray that she's able to catch-up, and not have developmental delays
Pray for the other factors for her release to come to pass soon: she needs to keep her own body temperature, be able to nurse & drink from the bottle, breathe more on her own, and have stable heart & breathing rates
Pray for mom & dad, as they get ready to receive their beautiful daughter
ALSO -- we ask prayer for Jennifer. She was the mother of one of Mia's neighbors, Robert. He survived for 5 months, but passed away in April. He was one of Mia's closest neighbors in the nursery. Pray for her peace and healing. We hope to see her at the Preemie Picnic at Rush Hospital at the end of July.
